An Open Letter to our Coney Island Elected Officials

AN OPEN LETTER TO OUR CONEY ISLAND ELECTED OFFICIALS

Dear Congressmember Jeffries, State Senator Savino and Councilmember Kagan, We, the undersigned, call on you to immediately endorse Assemblymember Mathylde Frontus in her re-election.

As fellow Democrats you have an opportunity to help protect the Democratic majority in the New York State Assembly by endorsing our incumbent Assemblymember, Mathylde Frontus, in the upcoming general election. Assemblymember Frontus is facing a credible Republican challenger. You have an opportunity here at home to stand up against this challenge.

Assemblymember Frontus handily won her primary election in spite of the fact that each and every one of you supported her opponent. The politics of Southern Brooklyn are changing and Assemblymember Frontus is at the forefront of those changes. The people have spoken. We stand with her. And you should too.

Let us be clear, a “no endorsement” in this race is the equivalent of endorsing her Republican challenger. We need YOU to send an unequivocal message that you stand with her, your fellow Democrat, in this race. To lose yet another seat in Southern Brooklyn to a Republican challenger, as we did in the last City Council race, is unacceptable and preventable.

So that we, the voters, can make the most informed decision at the ballot box we ask that you kindly respond to this correspondence before early voting starts on August 13.
