New Virtual Reality Ride Preview (Video)
Over a week ago the Coney Island Blog reported that the beloved Scrambler ride located behind the Wonder Wheel will be replaced by a new virtual reality interaction attraction.
The Dark Ride XD will feature a series a visual action scenes. Riders will wear 3-D googles while sitting in a moving chair and shooting at a movie screen with a canon.
The multi-sensory interactive ride manufactured by the Canadian based company Triotech has 7D capabilities.
Coney Island has a history of simulated indoor dark rides dating back to Thompson and Dundy’s A Trip to the Moon, which was featured at Steeplechase Park for a season way back in 1902, before becoming the feature attraction at the original Luna Park in 1903.
A preview of the attaction is featured in the video below. The simulated ride is set to debut at Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park in late June.
