Saturday Night Live at Coney Island (UPDATED WITH MUSIC VIDEO)
As members of the cast of Saturday Night Live taped a musical parody titled “This Is Not a Feminist Song” today on the boardwalk, the Coney Island Blog was on hand to watch the entire segment.
The SNL cast and crew arrived at sunrise for the 6am boardwalk call time. It was a picture perfect day as SNL cast member Kate McKinnon sang the feminist themed parody while walking down the famed boardwalk.
To convey the Coney like atmosphere there were extras portraying concession workers, an artist with his pallet and easel, a hot dog cart, balloons and even a machine churning out fresh cotton candy to the delight of the extras on set.
Earlier in the day we even spotted pop star Ariana Grande walking along the beach.
It was no coincidence as Ariana Grande will be hosting SNL tomorrow night. We certainly hope that the Coney clip avoids the Lorne Michaels’ axe. It would be an excellent promotion for our beach and boardwalk. Traditionally only half of the scenes taped and rehearsed make it to air (we know from experience).
Here’s a promo video for the upcoming March 12th show. Also check out the pictures below.
Great great. Idea!!
