Shore Theater Sold!
We received word today that the Shore Theater was sold last week. Jasmine Bullard reportedly sold the property to Pye Properties for somewhere within the $20 million range ($14 million). This is exciting news for Coney Island.
We spoke with a man named Peter who is a member of the Pye Properties management team who gave us a peek inside the landmarked theater. Hopefully the new owners will decide to make good use of the former 1920’s Loews Coney Island Theater. A hotel? Restaurant? Broadway revivals?
Peter told us that the company plans to bring the theater back to what it once was. They want to bring back live entertainment and they won’t rule out the possibility for a hotel.
What would you like to see happen to the Shore Theater??

YES!!! Thank You for posting this!!! Bring back the theater just like Kings Theater
It’s so nice to see there’s a chance of it coming out of dormancy. Perhaps a new Pavilion of Fun, like the indoor area in the original Steeplechase, which had a very high roof and ceiling, and walls of windows. I’ve always envisioned a year round amusement park in Coney Island, but wondered how much it would cost to keep it warm in winter, cooled in summer, and power the lights and mechanicals. With advances in solar and wind power reclamation, maybe that day will come soon. Parking would be the only drawback, unless one went there via mass transit, or ferry. The lots that are being acquired by the city under eminent domain, might be set aside for multi-tiered parking. If the Shore becomes partly a hotel, tourists wouldn’t have a problem getting there for a stay. It’s close enough to three airports for arriving guests who will know they can cross the street to the subway, and be in Manhattan in forty five minutes.

Oh, I hope this is true and the new owner truly will restore it to its former glory like was done with the Kings Theater!
Not surprised that this property “suddenly” sold- with the current eminent domain land grab happening, I guess it was now or never. I’m hopeful it will be restored to its former glory!

GO CONEY, YEAR ROUND!!!!!
Fantastic video! I saw it on Facebook. You are doing a great job adding to Coney news. As a blogger that advocates for Times Square by the Sea, I totally appreciate your work here. We need more bloggers like you!
I have to ask though. What has PYE Properties developed before? I found their website here. Kind of confusing. Another property they owned, Royal Gym, I think they sold to Schron for the Neptune Sixth mall development
