Construction Progress for Amphitheater and W. 10 st. Entrance
The Seaside Amphitheater project is finally starting to take shape. Pictures taken yesterday convey the enormous opening at the side of the landmarked W. 21st. st. Child’s Building which is starting to look like a concert stage along with it’s state of the art Birdair PVC membrane roofing system (read about it’s unique roofing system here ). The picture below taken yesterday reveals that there is still much more to be done in completing the $53 million restaurant and entertainment complex which along with it’s public park is poised to drastically resurrect the drab western end of Coney Island.
Further east at W.10th st. a new $11 million art-deco entrance is also starting to take shape on the boardwalk (it’s great to see wooden planks!). The project which commenced in December of 2014 will be providing a landscaped entrance to the boardwalk just a stone’s throw away from the New York Aquarium which is working on it’s own $150 million expansion named Ocean Wonders: Sharks! Check out the aquarium progress here.
So what do you think?
Will any of these projects be ready to go for summer 2016?
It strikes me as very strange how this section of the Reigelmann Boardwalk is being Modernized to Include Wooden Planks whilst the section East of Coney Island Avenue is completing a Plastic & Concrete makeover. A tail of 2 Boardwalks?
