Updated: WindstarZ Making Debut at Luna Park
On Thursday, July 30th at 12 pm amusement ride manufacturer Zamperla will be debuting an exciting new ride called the WindstarZ, at the boardwalk entrance of Luna Park. This one-of-a kind ride which was shipped and assembled last week, looks like it is almost ready to go. The ride is unique in the fact that it incorporates the concepts of sailing with flying.
According to the official Luna Park Website:
“The name WindstarZ comes from the basic concept of the ride, navigation. Stemming from the Italian rosa di venti, or the traditional compass rose, WindstarZ allows the rider to be the captain of their experience by controlling the movement of the wing and the seats on their glider. In honor of the Roman’s adoption of the Greek’s 12-wind system and Virtuvius’ 24-wind rose, WindstarZ’s 12 arms and 24 seats lets multiple riders take flight.”
In October of last year The Coney Island Blog revealed the exciting news that the popular ride called the Enterprise was making it’s return to Coney Island. The Enterprise was a popular ride at the late great Astroland Park.
We reported that this new Zamperla manufactured version of the rapidly spinning Enterprise will be called the Endeavor. It will replace the crowd pleasing Boardwalk Flight located right next to Place to Beach.
With the equally exciting Power Surge located on the W.12th st. side of the Scream Zone, that makes three brand new amusement rides Zamperla is debuting this summer.
Not bad for an amusement district that just a few years ago was rapidly shrinking.
