Freak Bar and Ruby’s Receive Best of 2014 Certificates

During the last week of December 2014 our readers voted on their favorite boardwalk bar as well as their favorite bar on Surf ave. Last Saturday we presented Coney Island USA founder and Freak Bar owner Dick Zigun the best of 2014 certificate. The award now rests on the wall appropriately behind the popular Freak Bar. The Freak Bar took 70% of the nearly 300 readers who voted in the Surf ave. category.

Later in the afternoon we stopped by Ruby’s to present owner Michael Sarrel with the award for best boardwalk bar of 2014. It will be challenging to find a spot on Ruby’s wall considering it is covered with pictures of Coney Island’s storied past. If you find the certificate on Ruby’s wall send us a picture for us to post on the blog!

We at TheConeyIslandBlog.com patronize every bar along both Surf ave. and the boardwalk. According to us they are all winners!

Hopefully in the near future we will be able to add the category of best Bowery bar!
