City Plans to Bring Ferry Service to Coney Island

@The Coney Island Blog

During his State of the City Address today, Mayor de Blasio spoke about his plans to expand city ferry service which may eventually include Coney Island.

A few months ago TheConeyIslandBlog.com posted about the ways in which ferry service would greatly benefit Coney Island.

We also included a poll about a proposal to bring ferry service to our area.

According to DNAInfo“The Citywide Ferry Service “will knit together existing East River routes with new landings and services to Astoria, the Rockaways, South Brooklyn, Soundview and the Lower East Side,” the mayor’s office said in a press release.

It will cost $55 million, with plans to expand to Coney Island and Stapleton in Staten Island once more money is secured, the city said.”

We want to know what you think about bringing the ferry service to Coney Island.

Participate in our poll here.

  1. Excellent find. Wish it was in Phase 1 but still very good for future tourists coming from Manhattan. Will boost development interest. Thanks for posting!

  2. Waste of money use the money to fix the schools. Open rec centers and repair parks not ferries
