Before we start…Can anyone identify the mermaid featured above?

Here are some photos from my personal collection documenting the Mermaid Parade some 25 years ago. Well it could be 24 years ago. It’s just 25 sounds like really official. We can figure that out later.

You will notice that Sideshows by the Seashore was located on the Boardwalk at W.12 (Boardwalk Nathan’s occupies the building today). You will also notice Stauch’s Bath House was keeping company with the original Thunderbolt just nearby. Don’t they look cute together? Check out the boardwalk! It’s made of wood and there isn’t 12 feet of sand underneath! So cool!

Fancy cars were allowed on the boardwalk (Is that Groucho Marx is the front seat?)!!! Dodging motor vehicles on the boardwalk was popular even back then! Today this same guy works for Uber.
