Let’s Thank Our Veterans

As we observe Veteran’s Day tomorrow let’s focus on a special group of men and women who are making a difference in the lives of those who served.

Team Red,White and Blue is a not for profit organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. Team RWB has visited Coney Island twice this year. Last New Year’s Day, thirty members clad in their bright red Team RWB T-shirts braving the cold wind joined the Coney Island Polar Bear Club, along with thousands of others, taking a plunge into the icy cold Atlantic Ocean. The organization is planning on making this an annual tradition, so expect to see even more members joining us for January 1, 2015.

 

On Saturday, May 17th of this year the organization participated in the Brooklyn Half Marathon which ends on the Boardwalk. Tom’s Coney Island owner, Jimmy Kokotas graciously hosted a reception for the Team RWB runners on the roof of his restaurant. Team RWB thanked Jimmy for making a generous donation to their organization.

Team RWB are planning more events in Coney Island within the next year.
