On Saturday , October 11th at approximately 8:45 a.m., a 42 year old man was shot dead inside 2007 Surf ave. Over the past year this address has been housing numerous incidents of violence. For the Coney Island community this was the 21st person shot and 5th homicide of the year.
We were at the scene last April when a teenager was accused of setting a mattress on fire that killed Police Officer Dennis Guerra at the same building. In August of this year Victor Rosado was gunned down in front of the same address.
The community is responding by organizing a protest with elected officials on Tuesday, October 14, at 6pm in front of 2007 Surf ave. The protest is being organized by the Coney Island Anti-Violence Collaborative.
